Less heart attacks after smoking ban
PARIS (mut). After the smoking ban in restaurants and hotels in France, the number of heart attacks there back in one year by 15 percent. Similar numbers were recently reported from Italy.
Since January 2007 smoking in restaurants in France, hotels and casinos is prohibited. How the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) reports were received after the introduction of the ban nationwide 15 percent fewer patients for heart attacks in hospitals.
These data thus provide a further clear indication that smoking bans in public facilities save lives reported to the ESC. "Even though cardiovascular diseases have many causes, the smoking ban has led to a likely reduction of cardiac events," said Professor Roberto Ferrari, President of the ESC.
